FCA USA LLC will be promoting longtime vehicle designer Ralph Gilles to lead designer for all of the company’s brands.This is an incredibly exciting time for the 45-year old Chrysler-vehicle enthusiast; he’ll be tasked with creating new vehicles for some of the recent brand acquisitions for luxury and compact cars. He’ll also have a seat on the Group Executive Council, the main governing body in the great FCA USA LLC machine. Product development of models like the 2015 Chrysler 200, manufacturing plans in various states, and interfacing with local dealerships like our Chrysler dealership serving Long Beach will all be fair game.
Gilles is a passionate follower of the brand and has been with the company throughout its varied history. The legacy of the revived Dodge Viper can be traced back to him and his team working quietly on a design amid mainstream models. He’s taking his new job very seriously, according to an interview with the Detroit Free Press.
“Can we be tastemakers? That’s one word I love a lot,” Gilles told the Free Press. “Tastemaking. Can we set the tastes of the future?” Gilles will bring his varied expertise background in racing and sports vehicles to a company that is always searching for that new edge to set designs apart.
